Canyon

Der Eingang zum Canyon

A brilliant Wall Dive with some smaller caverns. Maximum depth is 18 Metres with a sandy bottom which is very often covered with hundreds of cone shells. In addition you will see Moray Eels, big Sea Stars in the Sand, Groupers, Soldier and Damselfishes and with some luck as well Sting Rays. Divers with good air consumption could make a combination dive over to the caves. A magnificent dive site, especially early morning.

Green Bay 1

Jane Green Bay 1

This dive site is excellent for Beginners and we use this site very often for our Discover Scuba Diving Program and with divers if they have been inactive for a longer period. Easy entry and exit point with a maximum depth of 10 Metres. Just  about 20 Metres outside the Bay there is a rock where you will be surrounded with fish like Ornate Wrasses, Rainbow Wrasses, Zebra Breams, Two - banded Breams, Damsel Fishes and often young Groupers.  It looks like the diver is in an Aquarium. Further out in the sand there are often Umbrella Snails and Sea Hares to be seen.

Green Bay 2

A place with some smaller caverns. Further out in 18 Metres there is a bigger cavern and one can dive through easily. This is a good place to see Spanish Lobsters. Further out in about 24 Metres lays the Wreck of a Mini Cooper. Nobody knows how it came there. Again, divers with good air consumption one could dive around the little island and exit in Green Bay 1. This dive is good for around 50 to 60 Minutes.

Cape Awkward 1

Here we have to walk downhill a bit to reach the entry point. We use this Dive Site for our Open Water Training and Advanced Open Water Training as it provides there every depth needed for Training. from 1 Metre down to 40 Metres. This is as well a perfect place for our Fundivers. On the entry point is a rocky plateau and it slopes gently down into deeper areas. If one dives more to the right you find a drope off down to 9 Metres where the bottom is covered with sea grass. A perfect dive site for U/W Photography. Diving into the easterly direction brings one to a sandy slope (looks like a skiing slope) and it looks really good in the middle of all the sea grass there. Here we are turning up into shallower depthes which brings as to a Wall. It looks really beautiful when the sun hits the Wall. Here we are turning left and diving in between 12 or 10 Metres depth backward to the entry/exit point, passing a few caverns which are full with Cardinal fishes. A good place to observe during the period of May and June huge schools of young barrakudas. In deeper waters around the 30 Metre mark we see very often Veil Slugs of about 50 to 60 cm in diametre.

Cape Awkward 2

Entry point here is the same as Cape Awkwrad 1, only here we dive over the little drope off in West - South Westerly direction to a maximum depth of 20 Metres and from this depth then continuously in to shallower waters. On the sandy patches here one can find Sand Dollars as small as 5 mm in diametre. As this area is coverd with sandy areas and sea grass areas plus rocky formation it is the ideal place to see as well our Green Turtles here. Plus again Moray Eels and Octopusses. A dive site for the Beginner but as well very good for the more advanced Diver.

Chapel 1

The Chapel, a holy place. Over steps downwards we reach the entry point. Right at the entry point is a huge cave above sea level. If the old stories are true then this site has been used to guard the captured slaves until the boat came to pick them up as it is a well hidden place. With a giant stride we enter the water. It dropes rather quickly into deeper waters. At 20 Metres ithe bottom becomes flat again but it still slopes gently down to a depth of 40 and more Metres. Diving around the rock brings us into the Bay and there, in shallow water, in around 5 Metres depth there are tousands of broken amphora pieces. This site offers very often Spiny and Spanish Lobsters.

Chapel 2

Also here we are using the same entry point but  diving straight out along the Wall on the right side into the open sea. At the beginning of the dive we stay rather shallow, in about 12 Metres depth. We are diving over large sea grass areas until we come to the point where the stoney hill meets the sea grass at a depth of  28 to 29 Metres. A  real spectacle on colors.  Many colorful sponges, rock roses and anemones can be seen along the rocky edge. An excellent dive site. On the way back we dive again permanent into shallower waters, passing sandy depressions and crevices. In some of the crevices are huge Mermaids Veil Corrals.

Caves

Most probable the most spectacular dive site in the area of Protaras with some nice cavern systems. Average depth is 9 Metres and maximum depth 16 Metres. Since late last year the way down has been worked over and one can very easy approach the entry point there. Right under the entry area is already a medium size cavern and it has two big holes in the ceiling which can be used as an exit. It looks great when the sun is shining through these two holes. The dive starts in the southerly direction along a wall and after about 100 Metres the rocky formation transforms into a sandy pool. Diving approximately 50 Metres over this sandy bottom brings you to one of the cavern systems on the left side. Please keep your consoles/gauges close to your body as it gets rather narrow through this cavern. On the exit of this cavern we turn right towards the shoreline again which brings us into a pool like area where we are turning 90 degrees to the right to dive through a large overhang which ends again in a cavern. On the ceiling in there you can see often Triton Shells on the rocks. After this overhang we are diving to the actual cavern which gives space for 3 divers beside each other. The bottom consists of bebbles so visibility is nearly always very good in this cavern. The entrance is about 1.5 Metres in diametre and opens up inwards. After about 6 Metres there is big hole in the ceiling which grants you direct access to the surface. Continuing through the last two thirds of this cavern the ceiling becomes a bit lower but there is still enough space for 2 or 3 divers beside each other. Looking towards the end of this cavern you will see the  exit in the shape of the Island of Cyprus which looks really cool. Watch out for Mermeids Veil Corals on the ceiling of the cavern. On the exit we are turning to the right into a little canyon with rocks left and right and with many little holes and crevices which offer a lot of different marine life. Diving around the rocky plateau we are coming to the sandy area in about 16 Metres of depth. Here watch out please, there are often sting rays out in the sand. This dive site offers everything a diver is looking for. Again Spanish Lobsters, Moary Eels, Sea Slugs, Octopus, and Sting Rays can be observed nearly on every dive.

Antennas

This dive site can be seen from the caves as it is just opposite the Bay. Again a good spot to dive.  With a few steps we reach the entry point but please watch out as it can be very slippery there. The entry point is a rocky Plateau and at waters level. Depth at the entry point is 2 Metres and the bottom consists of large polished round rocks. Here we are diving past the rocks down to a depth of 13 Metres where it gets sandy again.  Here we see very often Drum Shells in the sand with a diametre of about 20 cm. Also bigger Con Shells can be found at this site. From there we are diving towards the caves for a little while and then turning towards the rocky shore. The way back is full with crevices and little caves and cavern. Near the exit schools of Trumpet Fish can be observed very often. An easy dive site with interesting features.

Herbieopolis

A beautiful and interesting Dive Site, suitable for any Certification Level with a maximum depth of 12 Metres. There are some column/pillars and some small busts to see which gives the dive site an ancient character. Again a good place to find Umbrella Snails of about 15 cm in diametre and Spanish Lobsters and schools of Trumpet Fish. A prefered place for earaly morning dives. Yes, we do dive often already at 05:30 hrs to watch the sunrise. Really spectacular.

House Bay - Magumaerha Bay

Our house bay, just 80 Metres away from the Dive Centre with a quiet beach and just around the weave braker is a Watersport Facility. The maximum depth there is 8 Metres. In the shallow area it is sandy and then it becomes rocky. We use this Bay throughout the year for our Bubble Maker Programs, for Discover Scuba Diving and for Course Beginners as it is just perfect for Confined Water Training and easy Open Water Dives. The bottom towards the open seas consists of sand in the middle and rocks on the left and right side. It looks like a River Bed. This dive site is highly appreciated by our Marine Biologists as it offers nearly everything, all the known Mediterannean Fishes, Trumpet Fish, Great Pipefish, Stone Crabs, Common Cuttlefish and much more. Also perfect for divers with a longer period of inactivity and for night diving.
