Assistant-Instructor Course
The PADI Assistant Instructor Course is the first part of the IDC - and can be completed in three or four days. During the course you deepen your understanding of the PADI system of diver education and gain further experience. The PADI AI course refines your skills as a dive professional and at the same time gives you all the materials you need to complete the entire IDC, the OWSI program.
PADI AIs give theory and pool presentations and learn how to correctly evaluate PADI Open Water Diver Flexible Skills (under indirect supervision of a PADI Instructor). AI's are allowed to conduct several PADI Specialty Courses, the PADI Discover Scuba Diving program and PADI Seal Team Aqua Missions independently.
AI Course Requirements:
To be certified as a PADI Assistant Instructor, the candidate must meet the following requirements:
Participation in the following presentations:
1. Course Orientation
followed by a preliminary exam in physics - physiology - dive tables - diving skills and diving environment - equipment
2. Learning, teaching and the PADI system
3. General standards and procedures
4. Risk management
5. Dive marketing
6. Start diving
7. Teaching of PADI specialty courses

4 Es Consulting Workshop 1
2. Teaching in swimming pool or confined open water
Diving Skills Demonstration Workshop

3. Execution of Open Water Dives

4. Assistant Instructor Completion Exam
